Cancer Society of The Bahamas

The Cancer Society of The Bahamas is a non-profit organization established to serve the public through educational programs aimed at bringing awareness to early detection, prevention and treatment of cancer while providing temporary accommodations, as well as social and emotional needs for cancer patients in a peaceful, secure and supportive environment.

The Bierenbaum Family Foundation Immunotherapy Fund

The Bierenbaum Family Foundation in close consultation with Harry E. Gruber MD established The Bierenbaum Family Foundation Immunotherapy Fund at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Fund will earmark grants for innovative treatments and cures for many years to come. On May 25th, 2023, over 50 friends, family and donors traveled across the country to attend a ceremony held at the University of Pennsylvania announcing the Bierenbaum Family Immunotherapy Fund. The Fund’s first earmarked donation will support Dr. Ruella’s translational CAR-T project which seeks to develop an effective therapy for T-cell lymphoma. Donors are eligible to contribute to The Bierenbaum Family Immunotherapy Fund and can contact Drew Santos at drew.santos@lls.org for further information.

Rider University

The Bierenbaum Family Foundation supports Rider University giving back to the school that helped launch two generations of family into successful business careers. Rider University's education building was dedicated Bierenbaum Fisher Hall in honor of the couple’s parents. In addition the Foundation endows scholarships and programming for the Gail Bierenbaum Women’s Leadership Council.

The Bierenbaum Family Foundation donates food to Hosea Feed the Hungry, which feeds the Atlanta community. Executives also volunteer their time and talent, especially around Hosea Feed the Hungry's Thanksgiving and Christmas events.

The Bierenbaum Family supports the Atlanta Police Foundation through the 14th annual Link Up Against Crime Annual Golf Tournament. The Bierenbaum Family specifically championed The First Responder Fund. This fund supports APD officers experiencing hardships and in need of financial support.

Barry and Gail have lived in Woodstock, GA for four decades and are very grateful to the honorable men and women who serve to keep the city a peaceful residence for families.

The Bierenbaum Family Foundation supports The Police Officer Joe McGarry Foundation. Located in Myrtle Beach, SC, the Police Officer Joe McGarry Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that is dedicated to benefitting the youth of Myrtle Beach. The McGarry Foundation is named after Pfc. Joe McGarry who gave the ultimate sacrifice on 12-29-2002 while attempting to arrest a murder suspect.

I wanted to give you a brief update on how you all have helped us, in 2021-2022, we have assisted numerous police officers and firefighters in need of immediate assistance. From a firefighter with a recent cancer diagnosis to a police officer who’s 5 year old son continues to battle a brain tumor, your financial contributions to our foundation have allowed us to assist these two specific families and others. Additionally, we were able to provide 125 children the opportunity to shop for Christmas presents with our local police and fire personnel. Finally, we’re excited to share that your financial contribution is directly assisting us in the purchase of ballistic vests for fire personnel. The purchase of ballistic vests puts Woodstock Fire in the leaning forefront of fire departments nationwide who are revamping their response protocol. I personally cannot thank you and The Bierenbaum Family Foundation enough for your continued support of the Woodstock Public Safety Foundation.

As Assistant Chief at Myrtle Beach Police Department, I have the opportunity to interact with countless citizens and visitors throughout the year who love and support law enforcement. I recently had the opportunity to meet with Barry and Gail Bierenbaum, founders of the Bierenbaum Family Foundation, and they are truly great people. Upon meeting with them and having a short conversation, I was quickly able to tell that they were humble people who have a great passion for helping those that help others and those who cannot help themselves. They have ideas and suggestions that will help the Myrtle Beach Police Foundation not only survive but thrive throughout the coming years. They surprised the Police Foundation with a very generous donation and also gave a generous donation to the Police Officer Joe McGarry Foundation. Many officers who were present for the conversations with Barry and Gail commented on how uplifting it was to hear positive, supportive and reassuring comments from them.

The Hosea Helps, Inc. organization provides relief for thousands of families every day, all year long-suffering, struggling, and either homeless or on the verge of homelessness - the working poor. The areas that the Birenbaum Foundation has provided include advice, finances, and food and has allowed us to provide help for families in Atlanta and around the country. Their support has fed the hungry, provided rent assistance, and supported the organization's operations. We are sincerely appreciative of their support, not just because they gave but more so because the leaders of the Foundation understand what these families are going through and have a heart for others. That is the main component of their support - they care.
